The Greenhouse Creators Consortium — six 501(c)(3) organizations devoted to improvised music, arts, and education (including D.D. and Elizabeth Jackson’s Open-Minded Visions) — presents a two-night festival at Soapbox Gallery, Brooklyn, in association with One Breath Rising, the Festival of New Trumpet Music (FONT), and Continuum Culture & Arts, with workshops Sept. 13, 15, and 18.
Friday, Sept. 18 features Vanessa Rubin and Trio (8 pm). D.D. performs Saturday, Sept. 19 (doors 6 pm) with saxophonist Jay Rodriguez, bassist Norbert Marius, and multi-percussionist Michael Wimberly — an evening also featuring Ahmed Abdullah’s Diaspora, Martha Cinader with Jay Rodriguez, and a closing Rodriguez composition featuring all the GCC members.
